Mediating Family Disputes: Parenting & Property settlements

Family dispute resolution

As a Nationally Accredited Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, I am often asked to assist lawyers, their clients, or self-representing persons directly, to assist mediate both parenting and property matters.

Usually, the process first requires the mediator to send an invitation to the other party seeking their attendance at mediation or family dispute resolution. Both parties at this time are provided with information about this process, and more particularly the consequences of failing to attend or attempt mediation.

Should both parties indicate an acceptance to mediate, an intake process is conducted to ensure the matter is suitable for family dispute resolution.

Assuming the matter is suitable, I provide to self-represented parties receive an information pack to assist with their preparation and to ensure the mediation time is used as effectively as possible.

On the day of mediation, parties will be treated with privacy and respect. I conduct all of my mediations using the “shuttle” model - meaning parties each have their own room and do not sit in a joint session unless specifically requested by either party.

Being highly proficient with video conferencing services such as ZOOM, I also conduct a number of mediations online, including some parties attending in person with the other party attending online.
